In a move to outflank fierce rival Netflix, Hulu has jumped into the bidding war to exclusively distribute a new batch of Arrested Developmentepisodes, greatly increasing the chances of a Bluth family reunion. On Sunday, AD creatorMitch Hurwitz told a crowd of assembled fans at the New Yorker Festival that he and producer Ron Howard were planning “to do a limited-run series” that would set up an Arrested Development movie.

Folks at ABC are “doing a happy dance” over word that CBS is about to re-make The Early Show into a Morning Joe-like ensemble gabfest with Charlie Rose and Gayle King joining current co-hosts Erica Hill and Jeff Glor, The New York Times says. The plan indicates that the network is abandoning any hope of overtaking ABC’s Good Morning America or NBC’s Today in the ratings, and are settling instead for the cachet of being a hard-news alternative — which appeals to CBS’ older demo.

Thanks to such culture-defining hits as Jersey Shore — the No. 1 series on cable among younger viewers — Teen Mom andits first scripted breakout, Awkward, programming chief David Janollari has something to crow about.
MTV is enjoying its highest-rated year since 2007, with seven consecutive quarters of growth and a concerted push into the scripted space. In October, MTV began to build an animation block with a rebooted Beavis and Butt-Head, which drew3.3 million viewers in its debut, and new entry Good Vibes.

Michael Eisner is back in the mouse house, this time as a TV producer. ABC has bought a period single-camera comedy project that Eisner is executive producing. Set in the 1980s, the untitled comedy, written by Jeff Greenstein, chronicles the early days of celebrity chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger’s unique business partnership and friendship.

Forbes has put together its list of ‘The World’s Most Powerful People’, including 70 individuals that it believes really “matter”. The list, published yesterday, puts politicians, religious leaders and tech founders together, ranking them in terms of how much influence they have over people.

Amanda Seyfried, currently in theaters in Andrew Niccol’s In Time, has been cast as Linda Lovelace in Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s movie about the infamous porn star, Lovelace. Peter Sarsgaard is in negotiations to play her husband Chuck Traynor, the pornographer who coaxed her into becoming an adult film actress.
